I spent a bit of time thinking and came up with a short list. The goal is quality improvement. I want to be able to look at my life and say that I am improving.
The List:
1) Sleep more. The more I am looking for is an average of 7-8 hours in a 24 hour period. I work 24 hour shifts 2-3 days a week on an ambulance, so there are times like last night where I got 3.5 hours of sleep, and I can't just roll over after my shift change because I have classes immediately after my shift Monday through Thursday. I need to get more sleep in my off time to even out the sleep that I don't get on nights like last night.
2) Sleep more regularly.
This is tied in to #1, while I need to sleep more, I also need to sleep at set anchor times.Though I am not a person who loves routine, I need it to relieve stress on my body and my soul. Right now, I am getting to bed anywhere between 9 pm when I am absolutely exhausted, and midnight or later on other nights. I am going to try and shoot for an 11pm bed time and set my alarm for 7 am. My shift starts at 9 am, so I should be able to get out the door in an hour and a half to be at work on time.
3) Go to my Doctor.
The truth is, I neglect my health. I need to get a check up, since I am over due by three years. I also need to get a mole looked at by a dermatologist, I need to get my labs checked and I really need to get a heart study done due to strong family/personal cardiac history.
4) Lose weight through better diet.
I am 6'5" and 250 lbs, but the wrong 250 lbs. I need to lose fat, but this can be achieved through careful and methodical dieting.
5) Gain weight through work out.
Since I am going to be dieting to lose fat, I also need to be working out to gain muscle. Like I said, I like weighing 250 Lbs, I just want it to be an impressive build.
6) Work on physical flexibility.
Flexibility is important in avoiding injuries. When I played soccer, I was a goalkeeper. Very flexible. Good with my hands. The ladies love that kinda stuff. I liked having the range of motion and flexibility to be able to bend over and place my hands flat on the floor. I can't do that right now...
7) Shave daily-ish.
If I look like a bum, I feel like a bum. I'm not a bum.
8) Monthly haircuts.
I like looking good. I also hate getting "Terrorist Neck" after six weeks of no trim. And after 8 haircuts, I get the 9th free.
9) Blog at a coffee shop weekly.
I do a good deal of blogging. Usually it is in the margins of my time, but I used to make time for it daily before I went to school. Last year I had 500 post in just a year. Now that I am a parent and full time student and full time on the Ambulance, I have neglected something that brings me joy. While I can't give it time every day, I can dedicate one morning in some sacred space to post about life, love and the pursuit of nachos.

My private version of this list is a bit more extensive, a couple of things that fall beyond "the veil" that would get the veto if I included them here. As it stands, I think that this is a pretty good list when used as a place to start.
