...But then again, so has almost everyone else's.
I'm not an incredibly snarky person. I have my moments and they can be brutal ones, but for the most part I tend to hover around "wry" But Jenn and I have noticed a disturbing trend when people talk to us lately. They start off noticing that we are tired and then follow up with; "just wait till the baby comes, you don't know what tired is".
Excuse me, who talks to other people like this?
"I'm sorry to hear that your dog died. Just wait till your mom passes, then you will know what real pain is like."
It's not appropriate and not especially helpful. I'm working pretty hard to become a good husband and father right now, and potentially building a resentment towards my unborn son over sleep that I haven't lost yet does nothing to get me to that end.
That being said, I do need to know things like how to get spit-up out of silk ties. I also need to know when I am doing something potentially dangerous to the health of my son. Advice is welcome. Don't Poke the Bear.
I'm also kind of disturbed by people who welcome themselves to my wife's personal space. And body. In public. Consider this 'New Husband and Father' defensiveness, but you had better ask before you touch. If you are a guy, don't ask or touch. I'm not the jealous type, but that is my wife and my son, and I don't know you.
Now that I have said all of that, I can't wait for this kid to be born. Expect many pictures and videos.
